Caroline and Sugar...

Love this pic :)

Caroline taking a break when we were on a family walk around White Rock Lake by Sugar's house.

Father's Day 2010...

Jon and I are so thankful to have WONDERFUL fathers, but Jon is simply the best in the world :)

The inside says..."Feeling the love?" I thought this card was pretty perfect. :)

On Father's Day we took a walk through the neighborhood...
I'm trying to get Jon to use this for his FB pic :) Love it.

REALLY cute pics Sarah took of the kids...

Sarah is such a talented photographer...love these :)

Swim Lessons....

Our goal this summer is to get Anna Kate and J.R. swimming unassisted...no matter how many lessons it takes. It could take a lot. Neither of them really understand that they are unable to swim by themselves right now....Anna Kate and J.R. both think they can do anything. But they sure do love those swim lessons!!!

Our Shar Pei...

In case you don't know, a Shar Pei is a very wrinkly dog...we don't really have one, but sweet Caroline reminds us of one when she does her precious smile...

Yes, that's marker on her face. She almost always has markers on her. She's just another artist, what can I say?

And she's always had those deep crevices on the rest of her body too...adorable.

Gotta love those expensive groceries...

I sure do :) Especially when I'm pregnant I'm just especially foodie-ish :) Really the only pregnancy symptoms with this baby are craving healthy foodie foods, however, I have felt very fat from day 1 and I have gotten lots of new moles and zits (gross I know). Other than that and a day here-and-there of feeling totally exhausted, I forget I'm pregnant. But oh the good food is VERY good. And I've been reading a lot on nutrition and it makes the bad foods quite unappetizing...and we started taking probiotics and it makes me feel quite fabulous actually!

Cousin Mel's Shower...

My cousin Melanie is having TWINS :) so my mom and I threw a family shower for her at my house...so fun.

Anna Kate and Mammaw.

My kids were super-into the gifts and sweet Mel let them "help" her unwrap :)

Car trouble, house trouble, all kinds of trouble...

The end of May and beginning of June brought Jon's heaviest work-schedule and on-slought of broken things that were expensive like...

  1. a gas pipe leak/repair
  2. plumbing back-up
  3. upstairs A/C went out
  4. our car battery bit-the-dust
  5. our car head-lights went out and mechanic still can't figure out why
  6. my retainer of 16 years broke (I stepped on it) and had to replace it
  7. broke my (kind of new) Blackberry when I accidentally ran over it with my car
  8. vacuum broke (thankfully it was under warranty - PTL)
  9. locked our petsitter out during a weekend trip and a locksmith had to let them in
  10. sprinkler system pooped out

Additionally, we had an older friend from church, Gail, stay with us for 2 1/2 weeks because she didn't have a place to live until her new apartment was available. She has had the most difficult life of anyone I have ever known and she was/is going through a lot emotionally right now with the sudden death of her husband, so it was hard for me....but I learned A LOT and God got us through it.

Here she is with my friend Jamey looking at our car...Jamey was simply a Godsend at this moment in time :)

The really good news is that Jon and the kids and I are all ok and all the broken things were just stuff and everything is fixed…except the car head-lights…well, our landscaping is just a disaster…that’s another post…and we have a chronic fruit-fly and mosquito problem…that’s not another post – I’ll spare you :)

You know you're in Texas if...

it's 100 degrees outside and you're wearing your hats and boots when you play with your water guns :)

Last day of preschool...

We are so blessed to have such an amazing preschool for the kids two days a week. They love it SO MUCH.

This is Anna Kate's sweet teacher this year, Miss Elaine.

And J.R.'s teacher, Miss Nicole....love her.
And Caroline gets SO EXCITED about going to be at their preschool when we drop them off and pick them up. She can't wait to go when she gets older...her "best friend" Emma isn't sure yet, but she'll love it too :)

The Fashionisto...

J.R. has always been a very "particular" little guy. And he is especially particular about what he wears. He LOVES changing outfits and sporting his very own "style."

Tasteful accessories are always a plus. And his favorite shirts have a "gator" or "horse" emblem. I can't figure out if that's more good taste (Lacoste and Polo) or just likes the gators and horses.

Backwards polos with cowboy boots are a must-wear this season.
And the camos are a favorite...we call it "The Very Bastrop Outfit."
This is them pretending to be "daddies" since they are wearing Daddy's clothes. Even Daddy's red gym shorts are on underneath the shirt as you can see.
And if you are going to bike, do in style. It's a Dallas thing. He is SERIOUS when he is tricycling. He does NOT want help, even going up steep hills.

And he came up with this outfit all by himself and I thought the layered look was actually pretty cute!! He cracks me up. And the "funniest" thing of all is that he probably wore all these different outfits over the course of about an hour...not great for laundry efficiency.

Anna Kate's dance recital...

She had some very special fans in the audience :)
She did a GREAT job :)

Her ballet and tap class wore these adorable bunny costumes. Anna Kate asked her teacher if they could be horses next year and her teacher said she'd make a note of that...makes me kind of nervous...I wouldn't mind if she were a bunny again :)
And of course getting ready with make-up and rollers for the first time was a treat.
